Yeast infections are a very common problem amongst women and cause burning of the vagina, a discharge as well as other symptoms including pain during sex and urinating. If the conditions inside the vagina chance for a variety of reasons – including getting pregnant or using antibiotics – then the yeast population inside the vagina can increase cause an infection. This is when the symptoms start to show themselves. Other causes for a yeast infection can be diabetes and birth control pills, and the infection is more common after menopause although it can happen at a younger age too.
